The Title Is Vital In Adwords SEO URL,Tags Content

You will notice the title above looks a little odd? It looks like it was written by a person with a slightly peculiar idea concerning English grammar.

What is the Google Adwords Program?

SEO stands for (search engine optimization) Effectively, there are a few simple steps to follow.

The actual SEO algorithm that Google uses is a closely guarded secret. The Adwords program however, gives us insight into the search behavior of users. These searches can help us choose what terms we will in turn utilize.

We do have some clear ideas, of what Google searchers are looking for, because of tools like the adwords seo url tool.

I call it the adwords seo url tool because that is what it can give you.

The terms and phrases that people have used, are what you can use, as your title, tags and in your content.

This is completely legal

White Hat SEO is completely legal and encouraged by the search engines, as it helps them categorize websites, more accurately.

Black Hat SEO involves activities that attempt to 'game' (cheat) the system for ulterior motives.

Here we are dealing with White Hat SEO only.

There are basically 3 elements to this equation.

Firstly the Uniform Resource Locator (URL or webpage address) and your title. The title above this hub, is friendly to search engines, but may be a bit off-putting to a human.

When creating your hub, you should first check the words or phrases you are going to use in your title, using the adwords seo url program on Google.

Find the search terms (keywords or tags) that you want to use.

When you start to design your hub, you put these terms in the URL title box that hubpages provides.

You will see that it also provides the 'title' for your hubpage. However you do not have to stick with the title on your hubpage.

As long as the SEO URL and the Title both contain the keywords, it will work.

You may have to fiddle a little, with the title, to make it read like English, and at the same time making it search friendly.

The SEO URL, contains all the search terms that you may want it to have, and your hubpage title, has the words that a human will find attractive.

For example. You might want to rank high for diamond engagement rings. So your URL might look like http:/ best price diamond rings best price diamond.diamonds cheapest

Now although this makes some sense, and it is what people actually search for, it doesn't make for a very attractive hubpage title.

Bring On The Traffic Make The Bots Happy

So you create the SEO URL, based on the search terms above, but your hub title would look more like 'Where to find the best priced diamond rings' which more real people will click on.

As it appears in the searches. Your SEO URL got you in the game but your 'hubpage title' will get them clicking on your hub. Your content hopefully will keep them there.

Using The Program

This intelligent tool is of course, very helpful. It can mean the difference between getting your hubs seen on the internet, or languishing amongst the trillions of other webpages that never see the light of day.

A link to the adwords tool is at the bottom of the links page. Think about 'how' people search the internet. What words do they use?

There is a good reason for using these methods. You wrote your article with the intention of people reading it? I do now that some people write just for fun or therapy.

If you are writing for fun or therapy and that is what you are really doing why publish your work to the internet.

Why not just keep a journal. So I am assuming that if you are reading this you want a wider audience.

SEO is concerned with getting your webpage noticed by the web crawlers, and it starts with the title.

The little critters that trawl the inter-web, looking for interesting stuff to index, on their web search engines, have a very simple job.

In this example Google.com have programmed their web bots using their propriety seo algorithm to look for content that is consistent.

Other search engines Bing, Yahoo etc, will have alternative seo algorithm's based on what 'they' think people will be interested in.

Ask yourself this question. Is the title of the webpage/hubpage reflected by the content of the webpage/hubpage.

So for example.

If your title is 'The Smoked Kipper Business', .but your webpage was full of information, about the finance details, of the parliamentary elections, in Basingstoke.

The web-crawler's seo algorithm will calculate pronto that there is no connection between the two elements (the title and the content) and will ignore your webpage and drop it into the sandbox, or digital desert.

It will be indexed, but at the bottom of the black hole of Google.

If you do a Google search on just the letters SEO, you will get a result of 1,040,000,000 webpages found. How are you and your hub article, going to stand out from all of these.

Target Marketing And Back Linking

One way is to try to make your title more specific and zero in on a more niche area.

In other words target your marketing and work to specific audiences.

Reducing the number of pages you are competing against is the equivalent of removing your competition.

The title that appears above took quite a while to get it down from 1,040,000,000 results to 195,000 webpages with SEO in the title. That is at least a beginning.

Your goal is in getting noticed. Your ideal just like everyone else is to get your article (hubpage) onto the first page of Google? Isn't it? Well not really.

You want to focus more on making the webpage, hub or whatever it is you are producing search friendly for humans.

Use simple terms, that people use everyday, to look for things. i.e. Pictures of Big Ben has 8,100 searches per month. This is a low competition term too and worth using.

There are no guarantees.

To get highly ranked webpages, takes time (several months) and patience and a little ingenuity.

Trying to figure out something that still reads like English but will rank highly in Google, is my idea of a great pastime.

I have a hub on the housing market. With a lot of daily breaking news, how do I keep this webpage highly ranked? The simple answer is, good quality content and regular monthly updated data and new back-links.

If you examine the Google search page for this chap. Peter Holland. He has two different pages from two different sites, and one dates from June 2010. One from Wikipedia and one from blogspot. This is a great example of back-linking.

This guy knows his SEO for sure. Another interesting site in the number 1 spot is housing market crash.co.uk.

Here is a copy of my 10th place hub on the housing market crash. All of the above links, including this one, are examples of back-links also vital for improving rankings.

Tags Help Targeting

Tags are very important too, as is finding the right title. Tags are the terms you found on the adwords seo url program.

Sometimes it is easier to think about the hub you are going to write before you write it and go to Google adwords seo tool and search for past searches that may help you target your hub more directly.

Don't misunderstand me here. You are not bending your creativity to the will of search engines, more exploiting the inherent capabilities of the search engines to your will

Many people make the mistake of thinking they are giving up their inspirational writing to the needs of search engines.

If you want to have your work read by a wider audience you should take this seriously.

Conclusion More Questions Than Answers?

Many people think that an understanding of the arcane world of the search engine will lead to wealth and riches? it probably won't.

As stated above there are over a 1,040,000,000 webpages devoted to this topic.

That's 1 trillion, 400 billion. That's one page on SEO for every 7 people on the planet.

So there are a lot of people, running around using these techniques but does it lead to more people viewing Your page. I don't think so. But anything that may give you an edge is worth trying.

The Above Techniques Apply To Google Search

These same techniques may not work on Bing, Yahoo or any other search engines, not to mention the open source community. i.e. Mozilla.com

Develop Real Organic Growth

The best way to grow your readership, is by social networking and writing good articles that people will want to read and share with their network friends.

Using these ideas may put you on the front page, in this case, of Google. In fact I have several pages on page one of Google.

One of my hubpages has been in the number one spot for weeks now on Bing, Yahoo & Google.

It gets around 100 page views per day? You can check it out here. 'This Site Has Insecure Content'

According to the Google search results, these search terms return 9,050,000 webpages with these or some of these terms. That does mean that you will get that many hits.

This is where it gets interesting. What are those magic terms(tags) that will bring more traffic.

This is where you have to start thinking like a user. How would you search for something.

The program is no doubt, quite a useful and intelligent tool but that does not directly translate into people clicking on your page, over others.

As the internet has developed and the numbers have risen, personal recommendation now trumps most other advertising methods.

Word of mouth, or good old fashioned advice from friends is what really drives the internet today.

Adwords seo can put you on the front page of Google if you get it right. It will help you to find what people are really searching for.

The most common advice is to go for monthly global searches from the internet of between 800 and 40,000.

So if a search term comes back with 1,000.000 searches that means you are competing with 1,000.000 other websites to be noticed.

Rather go for less searched for terms, or niche items.

Also examine the competition by looking at the top websites in the category you are searching.

If the competition's website is well presented and resourced, and you still think your hub can do a better job, go for it.

I tend to take on very high competition sites, because it appeals to me, to try to do something that is difficult. Just to see how it turns out.

Will it lead to millions of views of your webpage, hub or article? who knows, but I would suggest it is highly unlikely?

These are the tools that are available to everyone and they may make a difference. You could get lucky. People do every day.

Google give you this SEO URL tool for free? how good can it really be? Everyone has access to the same information? Does is use lead to more readers?

The above questions will only be answered over a period of time.

It can take 6 months and longer for a website to really spread across the whole of the world wide web.

As of yet I have no empirical evidence to suggest that these methods help at all.

Although I do have many off my pages on the first page of Google; they come and they go as they are updated and other peoples pages are updated daily. So it is an ongoing process.

Don't forget The Personalization Aspects Of Search Engines Too!

We can also be mislead by the personalization aspects of search engines. It may appear that our pages are ranking higher, but this may not actually be the case.

All search engines try to adapt to our individual search behavior, (it looks in your computers cache) and may show you, your website, on your computer, as if it is on the first page of the search engine, when this may not be the case.

To test if your website is really where you think it is try searching for your website using a different computer or a different browser.

If you are using Safari switch to Chrome or some other browser. This will show you if your rank is correct.

It may make you feel good, that you appear to be on the front page of a search engine, but that will not equate to more clicks or views.

It may be on the first page, just on your computer?

Does the program have any value?

There are millions of companies out there that believe it has value, and they would like to charge you a load of money, for what I have told you for free! Try it yourself and see what you think.

Other than as an intriguing puzzle for geeks ?

It is fun poking around in the innards of these search engines and is quite interesting.

Great hub, voted up and useful! SEO is an art form and it seems that you got it figured out.

Great article containing real good pointers for effectively applying SEO techniques.I have learned quite a lot through your this very well explained Hub.Now i feel much clearer on this always confusing thing called SEO :)

My vote up,useful and i am going to share this as well!!!

Hello vespawolf,

my aim with this hub was to clarify, in a very easy to follow way, what we can achieve with SEO methods in a very short time.

It will of course get more traffic over the long term too which is the objective.

It was interesting to get the results of the poll and discover that two thirds of hubbers had little understanding of this essential tool.

vespawoolf 3 months ago

This hub is very useful. I have bookmarked it and plan to return so I can absorb all the little details. As a newbie, there's so much to learn!

molometer 3 months ago

Hi Pamela N Red,

It is a little confusing and people think that there hubs are ranking higher because of this feature of most browsers.

You can clear the cache and then notice the difference.

Pamela N Red 3 months ago

I like that you added the fact that our own searches are biased by our past searches making our results often look better than they really are. I go to the library sometimes to see what results I get on their computers.

molometer 4 months ago

Thank You alocsin,

This is high praise indeed. You are very talented and I have learned a lot from your hubs too.

I have been following some of your ideas today in fact on the forums.

One can make quite a good living just doing SEO work.

It takes a little effort and a particular type of mind set, to make this particularly quite intelligent tool, work effectively.

There are many people out there who claim to know how SEO works but 99% of them are chancers and work on peoples ignorance.

SEO is not difficult to do, to use SEO just takes a little extra effort on top of writing your hubs, easy really. No brainer.

alocsin 4 months ago

Excellent description of a mystifying subject, SEO. Voting this Up and Useful.

Hello Cathy,

Glad you enjoyed my take on SEO. Thanks for the lovely compliments too.

It really does work, to a point, but it takes time for things to settle down (up to six months) so don't keep changing your tags or titles especially.

Traffic comes to good work eventually.

Effectively using this tool really shows up, when you look at the cached version of your hubs, and as you say 'all the terms are highlighted'. Win win.

Thanks for dropping in too.

Hello tarajeyaram,

Wow and thank you for putting me in your top 10 hubs. I am honored.

Use SEO is a key element as you put your writing plans into action. We need to have all the tools available to be effectively communicating our ideas.

This hub and your others are really well put together and insightful. Your biological term made me laugh aloud. Thanks for that, I think. SEO, to me, is complicated, or I overly complicate it. There is SO much on the internet to search for, and it seems to me that searchable phrases are better than just terms. And, everything is searchable too. Thumbs up on this hub. Thanks much.

Molometer - you have great hubs. I read this hub and used some of the tips. Thank you for helping me build my hubpages. I chose this hub in my Tribute to 100 followers - top 10 hubs.

Hi Cred2,

I will write the second part to this little conundrum, but after Christmas.

This hub on the whole SEO debate has generated a lot of interest for obvious reasons.

Hi, molometer, yes I anxiously await the article that you mentioned. I have no doubt that it would be very helpful. Thanks for the gracious offer. I certainly would like to get the stats up a bit.

Hello phdast7,

The whole SEO question is very interesting. I am still researching this anomaly.

I'll keep you updated when I find out what is really going on. Watch this space. This SEO tool, may be more intelligent than anyone thinks, or simply a system to manipulate client PC's indexing system?

Hey.. thanks... really helpful article..

I am glad..

phdast7 5 months ago

Great article with interesting, and obviously for some Hubbers, unexpected conclusions...judicious use of the right adwords equals better placement in google searches, but that is no guarantee of serious followers or serious financial recompense.

Hmmm, it has been a long time since I used the word recompense. :) You think and write very well.

tarajeyaram 5 months ago

Your article was helpful. I am going to try some of your suggestions. Thanks.

molometer 5 months ago

@W Long, Whether SEO techniques work in driving more traffic is debatable but it is nice to see your hubs on the front page of Google.lol

molometer 5 months ago

Thanks W Long, glad it helped you out.

molometer 5 months ago

Hi Cred2,

The business model here is quite simple. We all read write comment etc and as a level 7 commentator it is obvious that you are doing your part.

The trick is to get views outside of hubpages and that is not as easy as it appears.

SEO can help get you higher ranked, but that does not always convert to views. That is a whole new hub.

If you think it would be helpful/useful I will write the hub.

W Long 5 months ago

Excellant article molometer. Will follow your links and learn as much as I can.

Credence2 5 months ago

Hello, molometer

"Read, Comment, Write, Read, Comment, Write, ad infinitum. It's not rocket science. Simple system but it works"

I am doing that all the time. You have quite a track record and I defer to your knowledge and experience. I will follow your links and check into it again. Thanks Cred2

molometer 5 months ago

Hi Credence2,

It's not cryptic at all to be honest, in fact it is far from being one quite intelligent tool, it's quite a blunt instrument. As it stands. Did you read to the end of the hub or skim it lol

My mastery of the craft comes from 30 + years in ICT and 25 years teaching the subject up to under graduate level. It's no accident my friend.

The reason I have done so well is because I do what everyone is supposed to do on hubpages.

Read, Comment, Write, Read, Comment, Write, ad infinitum. It's not rocket science. Simple system but it works.

To use SEO effectively take a step back and think like a user.

Credence2 5 months ago

Hi, molometer, thanks for providing this info, the google adwords program seems so cryptic. I willhave to trail you closely to see what comes of your mastery of the craft. Can you really see the difference in lets say, your hubpages readership. But I can't help but to notice that you have done pretty well for yourself for the little time you have been a member!

Thanks, Cred2

molometer 5 months ago

Hello Derdriu,

I am glad you found this hub useful, there is so much nonsense around concerning SEO and effectively if is of any use at all.

Adwords is and intelligent tool except it tells us what people 'have' been searching for, and not necessarily what they are searching for tomorrow.

Now that would be, a very intelligent tool and would help SEO, to really be truly useful.lol

Thanks for the visit and the comment too.

molometer 5 months ago

Thanks Jen,

Like I said in another hub, birds of a feather flock together. lol

I do this too:)

molometer 5 months ago

Hello kevins blog52,

I am glad you found it helpful and that you won't waste time or brain cells unnecessarily on these dark arts.

I am a self confessed geek and I find it fascinating in it's own right, delving into the innards of these things.

I am the kid that always took things apart to see how they fit together. I am still the same.

molometer 5 months ago

Thanks Jen,

Farting rocks my world every time I read it. lol

The whole SEO thing, is such a minefield of misinformation and misdirection.

I thought I'd shine mine flashlight on it and see what trolls I could flush out.

There is a lot of 'stuff and nonsense' out there about the power of SEO and precious little based on real evidence.

As you can see, these examples are all on the front pages of Google which receives millions of searches per month on these very topics, farting etc lol.

So where are my millions of hits?

Exactly it doesn't work.

As I mentioned in the hub. The way to get noticed and hits on your website hub or whatever is the oldest one in the book. Word of mouth and personal recommendations from friends.

Adwords might well be one quite intelligent tool but whether using it's SEO effectively makes any difference is open to debate.

You do know what I just did there don't you? lol ha ha

kevins blog52 5 months ago

That was a great hub molometer, I will put this to good use. What did Bob say on the movie what about Bob? baby steps. Thats how im learning this marketing thing, one little step at a time, till I go all the way to the $$$ cash room.

jenubouka 5 months ago

The farting one gets me every time, I will Google random ideas in search of how people look up a subject versus what Google think what I want to find. There has been some interesting conversions, Google can have a dirty little mind, but as you wrote that may not be the case at all. It just means the "bots" perceived the tittle and content as a match of good content.

It can be a real hit and miss at times, and you are so on the money about keeping your content up to date with top links.

As well as even hitting page one does not mean hitting the jackpot either, there maybe 54 million searches for "poop" and if you are #5 on page one it does not mean your article will go viral.

It can get so overwhelming and frustrating to find the right words, but this hub is so helpful to those that really read through it.

Thanks Mike, great info!!
