How To Get Paid On Webanswers.com

Getting into the guts of the Web with webanswers.com.

The good news is... it work's. This is the 7 month update to my hub pages as promised and I can confirm that webanswers does indeed work.

For those of you who want to know, whether you can, make money writing new answers at webanswers.com; and, is it worthwhile financially, signing up for this thing.

I can now say, as I have been their long enough to comment. It is a legitimate business.

It does work and the earning potential depends on 'you'. Your amount of engagement on the site. More input, more money, that simple.

Is it a top money makers on the internet for this type of activity? It's too early to say, I really have not given it as much effort and time as I should.

I just wanted to prove it worked first. It does. Each of us should give it the effort we feel we wish to put in.

This money making guide, along with the extensive comments section from other hubbers. Cover just about everything you need to know, about how to answer questions to how to get paid on webanswers.

To begin. Sign up with webanswers. The referral link is on this page.

When answering questions on webanswers.com, try to make sure that your answer is over 100 words in length.

I have read on the tutorials that you are paid according to the quality and the depth of the answer. You can also add a photo. Make sure it is copyright free. And attribute the source of the photo.

The sites income is generated by advertisements, alongside the answer that we supply.

We share this revenue with webanswers.

100 Words Makes Sense

The 100 words apparently has an influence on the ranking, given to the answer by web crawlers. (programs that search the internet for Google & Bing, and add your answer to their index pages etc)

You are paid per line.

Currently my answers are averaging slightly over $26.00 PPC. Remember this is based on the mille idea or per 1000 clicks.

These rates vary according to webanswers mysterious ranking algorithm that no-one knows anything about.

I have answered just over 200 questions with answers varying in length from 5 words up to a maximum of 100 words (at most I have answered 10 questions with 100 words) and made £6.50 for November 2011.

I haven't answered a question on webanswers for about 5 weeks now, and I still made £8.40 for December 2012. So it is profitable considering I have done very little work.

I was paid on a ratio of £54 per 1000 hits So it work's. Even when I am not actively working on the webanswers site. I am still earning. You do however have to do a bit every now and then other wise your earnings can drop dramatically.

Now if I were to answer 2,000 questions I can imagine that earnings potential will increase exponentially. There is only one way to find out. Do it. So I am doing it. Slowly but surely.

How To Get Paid. Keep At It

I have deliberately not been on the webanswers site, as I wanted to test if we still earn with little or no engagement with the site. It does.(Dec 2012)

Unfortunately I am now answering just one or two answers per week. I have other more pressing demands on my time. (March 2012)

The evidence as far as I can tell; is that once you have put your answers on their site. Whether you engage with the site or not. is up to you. It is really that simple. I have been told that if you engage with the site you may make more money? I cannot confirm or deny that claim.

What I can say also, is that it is an experience, worth at least a visit and looking into.

And you get to contribute to the fundamental DNA of the internet. The answers eventually turn up on the search engines.

These are some questions that I have answered and been awarded.

Question on Infra Red Astronomy. Question on Hair Loss In Men

These two answers alone show the diversity of questions you may encounter and chose to ignore or answer. Your answers could potentially live forever in cyberspace. OK enough with the hard sell.

Stay with me now it's gonna get a little repetitive for a minute. I will be as quick as I can.

Quick setup:-

Basically you go to webanswers.com and create a profile. Simple. It has been in Beta since it's inception many years ago. The interface is very simple; you have to ask questions and you have to answer questions. You get paid for both. But you get paid more for answers and long term. So by all means ask questions but focus on the answers.

You will see that other people may have answered the question but that doesn't mean that you cannot answer the same question. You can view their answers. If you think you have a better answer then go for it and submit your answer.

The questions that have been answered are then judged by the person who asked the question and awarded to who they think answered the question best. (take a deep breath)

Being awarded a question that you answered, means that you will get a bigger share of the advertising revenue, from that answer forever (doubtful, don't hold your breath)

So How Do I Earn?

The answers are eventually displayed on sites all over the internet and whatever ads are shown alongside your answer at that time you will receive a percentage of the revenue. Right so you are signed in and the screen is there. Hey what about, how to get paid?

You have to answer 50 questions first

After 50 answers, a new tab appears in your profile where you just click and it links to your Google adsense account (if you have one) or creates a Google adsense account for you if you don't.?

Sometimes this can take a few days or even weeks. Webanswers say that.

The 50 question rule was introduced to deter time wasters.

Just fill in your usual details. It is a secure site so no worries there. So here we are, 50 questions to answer. It did seem a little daunting but I just jumped into it and pretty soon I had answered 10 questions. Then they just started flowing and before I knew it I had done the 50 initial questions.

Now I just drop in every now and again. I answer a few questions. There is no time limit on any of this work.

Someone Has To Do It.

So many questions so little time.
So many questions so little time.

Just For Fun

Answers To Avoid

It pays to be selective in what you answer. Consider a few other things before wasting your time on a question. This is my opinion, you can of course answer whatever questions you like. If you want to know, how to get paid then follow these simple rules.

These answers are being created and are used by search engines, so misspelled or poor grammar will not be used, I assume.

(1) Don't answer questions that are misspelled.

(2) Some questions may be years old, you can still answer them and earn from these.

(3) Don't answer questions with poor grammar.

(4) Watch out for web bot questions. (you still get paid for these)

Sometimes the system generates it's own questions.

These are usually on a theme i.e. variations on how to get pregnant and what to do if you are and don't want to be (phew!) You still get paid for answering them.

(5) Don't answer questions that are ambiguous.

(these answers are based on value judgements that you may not share, so you will rarely be awarded them)

Whether you are awarded answers or not, you will still earn money. The awarded answers do earn more money as a percentage.

Torrent Of Money Coming Your Way?

The last thing to do, is just sit right back and wait for the flood of money to flow your way?

But hang on a minute, don't give up your day job just yet, and don't tell the boss what you really think.

These kinds of projects take time to develop, to build up your stock of answers and of course. As we know some of these companies, just disappear overnight.

You will have to carry on working, and do this type of project as and when you have time.

I would imagine that this type of work, would appeal to a wide variety of people, and of course it keeps the mind active.

If you like a challenge or need stimulation. Then my advice is to give it a go, but discipline yourself. Don't overdo it.

Take a break for 15 minutes every hour.

That's just good advice for any computer worker. Don't start piling all your eggs into this little basket just yet. I do hope this simple, money making guide, helps your online search for your own personal Eldorado. Not everything in life has to be 'complicated.'

Like the X-files "it's out there somewhere".

P.S. The question are ranked in a variety of categories. You are bound to find something of interest.

I was completely astonished at some of the things that people ask 18+ rated and definitely not for the squeamish.

If you are open minded and realise these are genuine people, asking genuine questions, then it is just another online writing job, with some interesting aspects on how to get paid for writing answers

I hope my money making guide helped. If you liked it. Vote it up and share it with your friends. Thanks

Hi Alison,

So sorry to hear that you are having these issues. I hope they can be resolved them soon. Good luck and keep your chin up.

Allison 6 days ago

They have never ONCE emailed me back. Webanswers doesn't seem to care about you until you GET approved . From what the support pages say only the ones who have been on there for years get replies. And "support" is somewhat of a joke. They know nothing of the way Google works or how they accept anyone and they I am just a peon to them now. Yet "support" sits and speculates on HOW you get accepted when NONE of them really know. They all like to pretend they have inside knowledge when none of them know crap. If they did I would know what adsense wants to get accepted. You wont find exact answers just vague speculation.

What TOTALLY disheartens me is some guy just said in an answer that he got accepted , and he signed up AFTER me. His answers are awful --very short two lines, very vanilla and plain. AND his last answer doesn't even answer the question. I am beginning to think it is not what you answer but WHO you know to get on there.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 8 days ago

Hi Allison,

I have heard that it can take a while to get the adsense approval sorted out. There is a discussion in these comments on this very issue.

Have you emailed webanswers about this yet? That would be the first thing to do.

Allison 9 days ago

I have over 100 high quality , decent length posts and many awarded answers with an invitation from Webanswers to apply to adsense. I did that. It has been nearly 3 weeks with NO word in my email from Adsense.

It STILL says that my account is under review on my account page. I am about to give up posting on Webanswers. I'm down to two to four posts a day since I'm now VERY discouraged.

I really don't want to put any more time into it if I'm not going to get accepted by Adsense.

Molometer, Your hub gave me hope. I have been on webanswers about a month. I didn't know about the 100 words. I have answered 100 questions but only a few are very lengthy. I haven't started earning any money yet. I have only been awarded 3 answers though, so far. I guess it just takes time. I appreciate your tips. I am going to read the other hub you suggested and more of yours. Great writing. Voted up and useful and will be following.

Average time on site is difficult to predict as it takes in too many variables. Typing speed, knowledge, value of the answers.

I'll add webasnwers to my favourites and when I get the time I'll definitely try it out. Currently I'm studying at University, hubpages, and playing sports outside my studies - I'm afraid I won't be able to commit to it just yet.

Hello AudreyHowitt,

It pays far more than anything else I have come across so far on the web.

I am still getting paid a little every month and I haven't been as active as I should, for ages.

It just seems to get pushed to the bottom of the list every time.

I must get back on it. It is so easy and fast too.

Maybe that is the problem. It is not challenging enough.

I should set a goal of say 200 answers a week and stick to it?

Thanks for reading. Glad you found it interesting.

Extremely informative and useful, full of very good advice for anyone considering this website.

I can confirm that you do continue to earn when you are not active on the site, so long as you put in a lot of effort first. However, your earnings will often decreased dramatically. Then when you start again, they will pick up to where they were quite quickly.

At the moment I don't answer more than five questions per day, I am still pulling in around $40 per month stop when I do put in lots of effort, I tend to get between two and five dollars per day. However, I will try your 100 words tip ;-).

Voted up, awesome, and socially SHARING.

Hello ukbusiness,

Thanks for dropping in.

Have you tried webanswers yet. I guess I have answered just over 200 questions myself of varying length.

I only answer things questions that I know something about and so get quite a good ratio of awarded answers.

I don't count the number of words I write, I just answer the question as clearly as I can.

The objective for me is to get awarded. Then these awarded answers are used as strong back-links to hubs that I write.

I checked out your hubs and your directory in Bristol, it must be exciting working on a new project like that.

I like the design of your friends site too.

Webanswers online money making from writing is a key element, in any SEO strategy, as you probably are aware, so it all ties in nicely and I enjoy it too. Bonus.

On the Google question I am sure it will be fine once you produce more content.

Just make sure that you produce the content based on the new things you have learned, from here and my other hubpages tutorials in this series.

Sadly, my webanswers account is rejected, as was my google adsense account. The reason given for rejection of google adsense account is insufficient material. So I'm building my hubpages and hope to reapply for google adsense after there's enough material. I am wondering if I could reapply to webanswers, later? I don't expect you you have all the answers, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 4 months ago

One of the advantages of webanswers.com, is the potential to link your awarded answers on webanswers.com to hubs you may write, or may have already written, on hubpages.com or other places where you write.

This has the added bonus of giving you a well respected sites, back-linking potential and reinforces your hubpage or other works.

For example here is one I made earlier.

http://www.webanswers.com/_yzh6e0rm/answer/2656640

This way you have the benefit of creating links in both directions.

This will give your work a significant boost in terms of ranking your online work elsewhere on the web. Google likes webanswers BTW.

hello rlaha,

There is no minimum as such. Apparently 100 words is something to do with the web crawlers that collect info for the search engines. Under 100 and it is ignored. This is speculation of course but I read it somewhere.

rlaha profile image

rlaha Level 5 Commenter 5 months ago

Hello rlaha,

The trick to making money online at webanswers is to write good quality answers of at lest 100 words.

If you read through these comments just about everything has been covered and it is if fact a tutorial on webanswers, writing at webanswers is great fun and in terms of time, much more lucrative than some other ways of making money online. Good luck.

Hi Molometer.

Thanks for the information. After reading your hub, I went to webanswers and before I knew it, had answered 10 questions. This doesn't seem too difficult, but I wonder how it will pay off once I start answering or asking enough questions?

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 5 months ago

I was going to write a second hub on webanswers, but this hub has so much useful information, from everyone and great links, that I decided to do a major update on it. Here it is with my latest findings.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 5 months ago

The speech software I tried is called TASTI. A free download and it does work but not in text boxes. It works on everything else except where I wanted it to work on WA lol.

I suppose I could use it on a word-processor and then cut and paste it in to WA? I may give it another go but I can type faster really.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 5 months ago

Hi Brett,

I know what you mean in terms of awarded answers. I asked a question in the WA forum about the statistics pages (they show the wrong number of awarded answers} The reply was that it has never worked and not to worry about it. So I don't.

I have no idea which answers are being clicked as the analytics just shows the totals and nor individual questions or answers. It is a little irritating but that is how WA works. It has been a bone of contention since the site started years ago.

Other issues I raised in the forum included why is it still in Beta after so many years.

No one seems to care about that either as it is constantly evolving and their algorithms are in constant development. I suppose they figure if it works why change it.

Brett.Tesol profile image

Brett.Tesol Level 7 Commenter 5 months ago

Oh, about the speech to text software, which did you use? Have you done extra training? (I read a story that took about 30mins) Are you speaking in a neutral tone?

As I now find that I can almost speak at full speed. The program won't show all the words, but is processing them (storing in memory temporarily), and then catches up as soon as you pause for the next sentence/paragraph.

Brett.Tesol profile image

Brett.Tesol Level 7 Commenter 5 months ago

Hey Molometer,

I have to agree. Compared to what I earn here (at least for now), I get at 10-20 times that from Webanswers. Mind you, I find it easier to answer questions than to think of interesting hubs to write, so the amount of content is probably not comparable either. I'm at about 1900 answers now, so nearing the 2000 as I expected for December.

Oh, with awarded answers, sometimes questions get banned, edited or re-awarded (yes, it does happen) ... which can also affect the amount of awards. Personally I don't worry, as I earn jack all from awarded questions and lots from unawarded answers/questions.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 5 months ago

Hi Brett,

I did a few more answers and if you consider time for reward (short term I mean)

I think webanswers is the highest paying site that I have found so far. What do you think?

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 5 months ago

Hi Brett, I was over there the other day and the server went off for maintenance so I haven't been back yet.

Went past 200 last week sometime and I have set up separate custom url's to track progress and it seems to be recording OK.

I did ask a question in the forum about the awarded answers that didn't show up in my accounts page.

I have 15 or so and only 7 appear on the account? Apparently it has never worked properly and not to worry was the advice lol.

You have been cracking on, way past 2000 now hey? I tried some voice software as you know but wasn't too impressed, I can type faster.

Brett.Tesol profile image

Brett.Tesol Level 7 Commenter 5 months ago

Hey Molometer,

Saw you crossed the 200 mark, that was when I started to see more regular clicks. How are you finding it? Did you set up a custom URL for Hubpages and Webanswers so that you can follow your earnings?

Hello formosangirl,

Thanks for your visit and detailed comments.

The aim of this hub is to share knowledge and as you have found it has saved you a lot of time.

I am glad that it helped you and I am sure it has helped many others as well.

I like popping in there and answering a few questions a day, for people as you point out, may not have the money to seek professional help.

There are so many people that could use some advice and I think it is a useful forum; for that reason alone it is worth a little of my time.

Like many things it is not for everyone.

formosangirl profile image

formosangirl Level 6 Commenter 5 months ago

Thanks for the explanation about how it works, and your hub has saved me a lot of wasted time. It is really sad to see the number of people who needed legal advice in my field of expertise. It seems that they are trying to get something for nothing, and they wouldn't even know what is good legal advice even if it hits them in the face because sometimes the truth is hard to stomach. That is why so many people are duped by schemers who promise solutions and cheap way out. Or, the blind is leading the blind. It is good to know that I'll be glad to just stay here and stay away from that kind of forum because if you truly need professional advice, I surely doubt you can get it on the internet, unless you are on a legal forum, and legal professional eventually want you to visit their office.

Hello family2010,

There are many sites that pay webanswers is just the simplest that I have found so far.

Webanswers rewards good quality answers and also the more answers you have produced the more chance you have of someone asking one of the search engines that particular question.

Be aware that I am not advocating any particular site just reporting what I find and where.

Earnings are related to quality of answers and involvement in the community like many similar sites including hubpages.

Hope it works for you and remember to have fun, if you look at it as work; it may not be for you.

It has to be something you want to do and enjoy otherwise it may feel burdensome.

Many people I have spoken are there instead of watching TV. They find it more interesting.

Hope this helped you.

Hey,

lol .. Great British Pounds (guess it should be capitals really, as in GBP). I put that as many on here and on Webanswers deal only in US dollars.

They are a good bunch over there, but are also very protective of the site. A lot of lazy writers join and internet marketers spam the place, so they are pretty quick to report issues. However, this also leads to more earnings for everyone that puts a bit of effort in! :-)

Just a word of warning; Be careful with your back-links. You are allowed to put 'promotional links' for you blog, Hubpages account and websites in your profile page, but not in questions or answers.

If you want people to check out more info, you can mention you have written about it and say that the link is on your profile page.

I just thought that I should mention this, as users have been banned after a lot of hard work, just because they hadn't seen that in the T&Cs and had been putting links in answers.

Other than that, it is an amazing site for earning, so long as you follow the rules. I got my Google check last month after just a few months on there!

Good luck everyone, see you over there.

Hi Wes,

I can't believe that you could possible have said something inappropriate.

You are the epitome of decorum.

Maybe you signed up under one of your non de plumes and forgot?

As I understand it.

All of the answers are moderated by the people that asked the questions.

So for example if the question was:-

'how to make a genuine Apple Pie'

and you answered it with

'kinky stuff is fun'

It is possible that not only would the answer be rejected, you may even get reported and banned from the site.

have fun!

I'd started an account there and had answered several questions......and then missed a week or so, and when I tried to log in there was no record of an account by that name, email address, etc, etc, etc.

I can only assume that I got banned for some reason or another - I'd imagine that my personal advice would never always fall in line with "societal wisdoms and convention" .....but hey, whatever. LOL!

Hello missolive, Thanks I'm sure I saw you mentioned on the HubNugget nominations too congratulations.

Well done on the webanswers.

It does take a little time getting your head around what the site is really doing.

Once you get it though it makes so much sense.

All those answers that the search engines throw up have to be written by someone and with the explosive growth of internet users; the need for people to create those answers grows everyday.

I tend to go on and do between 10 to 20 at a time on a particular topic and so you get into a kind of flow.

Don't forget to put a referral link on your site somewhere (profile page)so that people can sign up through you. That reminds me I better put one on my profile. Dooh!

You know that they still earn the same as you but you get a little extra from webanswers end of the revenue.

Glad you liked the video and thanks for coming over and leaving such a lovely comment.

See you soon either here or in the boiler room of webanswers lol

Hi molometer - I've been slowly working my way through the the webanswer ranks - keyword slowly. I'm trying to at least answer 3 to 5 a day. In fact - I'm not sure, but I may have even signed up through your link - unsure. It was through a hubber though.

You have provided great information and useful tips in this hub. I'm going to bookmark this as a reference. Thank you for the "just for fun" video at the end - that is one of my favorites.

Congratulations on your HubNugget nomination - best of luck

Hi there wanzulfikri,

Yep it works so far, you just have to crack on and get the work done. Simple really and interesting work.

I tend to answer a lot of philosophy questions as that is my interest.

The choice is yours to make.

Have fun and don't forget to sign up on the link above as I might make a little more from webanswers.

You still get the same money but I get a little more of the revenue split from their end.

Also make sure you use 'your' link to sign up other people. It's a win win for everybody.

Hi - you asked me about hub profiles and that many are very long and were you *missing something* and as I cannot find a manner to simply reply to you - I am just replying here.

I suppose that your profile page should contain some keywords on the things you write about - especially if you want your pages to be SE friendly.

If that doesn't matter to you then I would say no - it doesn't matter how long your profile is.

That's all really.

Best regards, Melanie

Hi Brett yep been busy all day today. Getting to be a habit. I checked out Dragon looks interesting I remember using something years ago called via voice by Microsoft. Bit flaky but I guess they have come on a bit since then?

I really must set aside some time tomorrow and get stuck in to webanswers as you are right they do compliment one another. I just have to get on with it.

thanks for the call back see you soon.

Hi Molometer,

Thanks for your update and comments. Seems like your hub is proving pretty popular. I'm loving the interaction on Webanswers, but won't give up Hubpages. I see them as being complementary to each other, except that so far (for me) Webanswers is paying far more in a fraction of the time. However, I hope as my hubs increase, that my natural search engine views will increase on Hubpages too. Someone once told me you need a year and 80+ Hubs to really start earning here ... so long as you market too.

Hello Frugalfamily, your welcome.

The more I visit webanswers the deeper my understanding of the way the whole of the internet and the search engines work.

Considering I have been teaching people how to use computers for over 20 years. This has been very educational for me too.

I truly love it when I learn something new.

It really is quite fascinating.

And you and your descendants get paid eventually and technically forever. lol

Not a bad deal for a few minutes work, hey?

Hi Tina,

A web bot is a small program that is used to trawl the internet to gather information to add to a search engines index pages.

In terms of webanswers it is a bit of a misnomer.

Basically it's a question that has been generated by a computer program rather than a human being.

However it makes no difference apparently you get paid for answering these questions as well.

Hope this helps you?

Tina Kachan profile image

Tina Kachan 6 months ago

What does "web bot questions" mean? I`m not sure I understand. Could you please clarify it a little? :)

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 6 months ago

Hi Brett, and thanks for the great info update.

I have been asking questions and answering questions although not on a daily basis yet but I will get around to it...sooner rather than later.

It's pays to be methodical.

I agree it is good fun and interesting work and don't worry that you found contradicting ideas in the hub contents. Interpretation can be a bugger sometimes.

There is a lot of info to take in on webanswers and I'm sure your comments will help clarify these areas of any doubt.

On further reading I believe that "we do also get paid for bot questions as well"

It's just the amounts vary.

60/40 for awarded answers and 40 for unawarded answers that you have answered.

You are right to just answer whatever you can as they all pay.

Thanks for pointing us all in the right direction Brett That is the benefit of having multiple inputs, we all save time and help each other to make the right decisions.

For anyone thinking about doing work on webanswers I'm sure this information will help them decide if it is for them.

See you over there Brett and thanks again.

Hi Molometer,

You are right, it does take time to build up, but not too long. I started off slow, just answering 5 question everyday. The main reason I did this was so I wouldn't 'burn out' too fast.

I am now answering 10+ questions a day, as I find it fun. 4 months in, I just earned around $40 this month. However, I am quite sure in the next 3-4 months I will be nearing the $100 mark (if things keep increasing as they are).

One thing I will say (sorry, it contradicts a little of your advice) is to answer any questions you can. People search with spelling mistakes and although bot questions don't award, you should find that all your money will come from unawarded questions. Those open questions really pay! Also, old questions may have been missed, as many questions get posted. If you answer these, it brings them to the front page and will earn your views.

Hope you enjoy it there, there are many great questions and it is quite easy to make some extra money. I started to notice steady earnings from about 180-300 posts, then it has just increased steadily from there.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 6 months ago

OK update time.

I have answered 100 questions so far and asked 30+ questions.

From what I can see most people who are successful on webanswers have in excess of 4000 answers with only about 20% awarded answers.

So just keep plugging away. It is still interesting work.

molometer profile image

molometer Hub Author 6 months ago

Hi Urbani thanks for the visit.

So you have tried Webanswers too. I think it's a case of keep plugging away at those types of sites.

The statistics seem to indicate that one would have to generate at least a few thousand answers awarded or not to see a consistent return.

Let me know how you get on and thanks for the great comment. I liked you work on becoming an elite. I am sure you will make it soon.

Hi doodlebugs thanks for your comment.

It's good to hear from someone who is working on the webanswers program and is making some money.

If you follow my hubs you will notice that I am researching e-commerce in general; trying to establish whether it is financially viable.

Obviously it works for many suppliers of a wide variety of goods and services but I am particularly interested in the growth and development of the internet and how the "content" is created.

Writing online.

Early indications are that apart from the fun and joy one can have from writing on these sites.

You also get to meet many interesting and particularly on hubpages very supportive fellow writers.

And yes you can make money but as with webanswers the quality is so important.

As to your question 'how revenue sharing is done' that is a very good question. Why not put on webanswers? If you don't I will. lol

thanks for the visit.

Hi Arlene,

I've got to the point where my time is too important to me to waste on frivolous things like the dross that is today's commercial TV.

I must say though that the BBC still makes award winning natural history shows with David Attenborough and I do have time for those shows.

The rest of my time when not being with my children and grandchildren I spent writing which I love.

Those "gabfests" are just brain rot.

Thanks for coming over.

Hi kmackey32 and Amy.

I thought I should get clarification on the whole awarded not awarded answers issue. So I went to webanswers and asked the question.

It is a bit long but makes a lot of sense and clearly lays out the whole method of attribution.

I hope this helps anyone considering webanswers. I think its great fun. And thanks to slipfallguy.

Answered By SlipFallGuy

"The original concept when this site was launched in 2007 was that the person who asked the questions was also the same person who awarded the best answer. If you dig around for awhile in the really old content, there are question and answer exchanges that explain how the site owners originally studied questions that had been answered, and issued the awards themselves if they had not been awarded within 48 hours. There are also exchanges shortly after that where they discovered the volume of unanswered questions was so great that they simply could not keep up that effort.

From the very beginning, something around 85% to 90% of all questions asked have never been awarded to anyone. Since awards rely on visitors and members rather than the site owners, there really is not much of anything they can do to change that situation.

That is why they spent the time and effort to create the Quality Score Algorithm. That program actually grades every entry based on proper spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure and scans to make sure the content relates to the topic of the question. There are other factors involved that are considered proprietary secrets that the site owners have not revealed to the members.

Your future revenue is keyed to the quality score more than anything else. As long as you strive to always provide the very best answers, you build a high quality score at the same time you build a large personal library of answers. A high quality score earns added ad placement to provide you with more opportunities to share revenue even in areas where you never answer questions. A low score removes your ad exposure. Members who consistently write poor content find that their quality score is so low that their accounts end being closed.

The awards are mostly an ego trip. They indicate that someone else felt your writing was good enough to earn an award. As long as you gradually build to somewhere around 10% or more of your answers being awarded, you are doing just fine. You may not see it average out to that level until you have posted something close to 1000 answers.

Concentrate on a high quality score. As you produce excellent answers, the awards will follow. You actually earn most of your revenue on unawarded questions and answers on this site, and that is due to the quality score, not the awards"

Hello kmackey32,

Thanks for the visit a 2 very good questions.

The old questions have probable been set by someone who no longer uses webanswers and so the question will never be awarded to anyone. therefore will never be incorporated into the database.

The bots questions are OK as long as they are current and not so old that they have become orphans in the system.

This is just my personal opinion in terms of the efficient use of my time.

If you enjoy answering all types of questions and many people do, please enjoy.

Thanks for 2 great questions and for letting me have the opportunity to clarify my view.

I have been a member of this site for a few months and I love it but I answer all questions including bots and old ones. Why would you not want to answer those questions? Most income that people generate are from non awarded answers.

Hi Amy I'm with you on this one.

I think it is brilliant that you may write an answer that some pregnant kid is going to find 10-20 years from now.

Your answer will give comfort and sound advice on what to expect from her circumstances.

I picked on pregnancy as I answered about 20 questions on the topic and was astonished by the lack of knowledge that is out there.

We forget that these people don't know what we know.

It is a case of our experience has value again.

I vote up. lol

Hello Arlene V. Poma and thanks for coming over.

I agree with you but would say that a retired person (I'm semi) is more valuable and the demands on our time is great; what with kids grand-kids and life in general.

But for me there is nothing on TV worth my time and in the winter evenings I like spending my time "on the laptop" and webanswers is hysterical.

Some of the things are unprintable but funny non the less.

I thought I was shock-proof but I have been surprised by the questions on there.

I'm sure it will become dull after a while but it's entertaining at the moment and if I make some cash doing it, I'm not going o complain.

In the immortal words of the song "Enjoy yourself it's later than you think"

Glad you liked it and thanks for the vote Up.

I am a member of webanswers.com, molometer. I have been awarded a fairly high percentage of "best answers" for the questions I've responded to. I think it is great fun and can be very thought-provoking. It is less time-consuming, for the most part, than most of the paying websites. I pop on and off the site between other online endeavors, peruse the questions and often find one or two that peaks my interest or experience that I answer. Like many of the websites, the "quality" factor is a bit mysterious to me, but I always strive to give my best, keeping in mind, that cyberspace is forever. One of the online websites that sends me a monthly "writing tips" email, paid me to write an article on webanswers geared toward those contemplating joining! So, I'd say webanswers has been "bery, bery good to me".

I am retired, molometer, but I don't know if I could venture out on this idea and answer all of these questions. I do try to balance my time in retirement. Although I do like writing, I try not to spend my days in front of my laptop's screen. Nothing gets done if I do. I become a hermit. Yes, retirement gives a person plenty of time, but that time is just as valuable than the person who is working. In retirement, the time is YOURS. Voted up and interesting. Bookmarked.
